Some reflections from the Talpiot class

I liked the pen-pal project. It’s the first time in my life that I correspond with someone on the computer, I was exposed to a lot of things because of it.

  My partner was very cooporative
always answered my letters. I learnt about the deaf world, and to communicate through the e.mail.

At first I got really all excited, about having a partner in Washington- I wrote at least 6 letters to her , but I never got any response. When I realized that she left school, I got a bit upset.I had to start all over again with a new partner.

At the beginning of this course I was very afraid, because I wasnot familiar with the internet but during the course I learned a lot. Now, I know that there are different ways of teaching aside from the old fashion way. You as an English teacher can do a lot of interesting things using the internet.
It was very nice working with the pupils from Washington. In the
first time in my life I was exposed to the deaf community and I was very
excited to get know more about them. It was also my first time having a
pen pal partner, and I had a great time.

Being in touch and getting to know a deaf person has been a special experience for me as well-I never realized that for them learning English was like learning a second language and I feel priviliged to
have been able to help a deaf girl improve her English.

At the beginning I was very unfamiliar with the internet and I did not think I could surf and find sites in order to do the assignment but after much efforts I succeeded! and I learned a lot by doing the
culture project-e.g. about Pennsylvania, finding interesting sights and it allowed me to practice writing in English!
