Guide For Tourists" this site contain many places in London that
a tourists will enjoy and remember them. like: places to eat, museum,
government buildins, sacred loactions and a lot more...
The site:

Here a little part of the
site:
The French section caters
for a variety of restaurants
which offer French
or French-influenced cuisine, with new
reviews following
some recent visits and the opening of a
new restaurant at
Belair House in Dulwich - certainly one
I'd like to check
out as soon as we can reserve a booking!
Until very recently
you would have read here some very
acerbic comments
on the state of the restaurants styling
themselves as French
in Dulwich. My general feeling is
that we were rich
in style but very lacking in execution,
particularly at
the more affordable end of the market.
While there may
be many who can afford the likes of
Belair in Dulwich
Village, which I am assured maintains
very high standards,
for the rest of us it was hard to avoid
disappointement.
But what I (am others)
feel is lacking in establishments
such as Cafe Rouge
or Le Piaf can now be found on
Lordship Lane, in
the shape of Le Chardon. Proprietor
Robert and his French
staff have succeeded where the
others failed -
in providing excellently prepared food in
an unintimidating
and relaxed atmosphere, at a price to
suit almost all
pockets. In not aiming too high Le Chardon
is a deserved success,
and one which I hope will get the
others thinking,
especially when their custom starts to dry
up! Here is a development
for us all to cheer - don’t forget
to book early!

Here a litte part of the site:
London Arts
Through the 'fifties' and early 'sixties' I studied art and design in Boston
and New York and
photography with Alexei Brodevich, Richard Avedon and Bruce Davidson. Photography
had
not yet become what it is today. There were few places where, as students,
we could go to see
good photographs. Only at the photographic Library of The Museum of Modern
Art could I
study the prints and images of Robert Frank, Walker Evans, Lewis Hine,
Margaret
Bourke-White and August Sander.
My first photographs were taken on the streets of New York going from one
depressing
neighbourhood to another, passing Diane Arbus and Gary Winograd collecting
images of
poverty, urban low-life and ethnic minorities.
I exhibited my pictures at the Smithsonian Institute for the President's
War on Poverty. I then
went into a career in commercial photography - fashion, advertising, editorial
and rock 'n roll.
After about ten years I left that behind me. Neither the spying on poor
people for
middle-class audiences nor serving the media world gave me the kind of
images I wanted to
leave my children. My camera became more than just a way of making a living.
Making a
living seemed less important than living itself.
I believe that applying the same technical expertise and the same 'eye'
to photographing
people who are happy, results in the kind of images that show, that in
spite of all our
difficulties, the world is also a happy place.
No matter where I have taken my pictures since then, on High Streets of
London or in the
hills of Laos, a smile is always a smile.
Site 5 - It called "London, Newspapers and media" it

dayly life.

"Welcome to the City of London Festival's new web site
!
The Festival is based in the heart of the oldest part of
London, known as the City, or "Square Mile". Started in
1962, it has since developed into one of Europe's
leading arts festivals. It runs for three and a half weeks
each summer (late June/July) and although classical
music is the mainstay, the programme embraces many
art forms: dance, jazz, drama, literature, street theatre,
film, fine art, youth education programmes and a wide
variety of walks.
Part of its unique quality is the programming of unusual
events of the very highest artistic quality in the City's
wide range of spectacular venues, some of which are
not normally open to the public. These include the
Mansion House (offical residence of the Lord Mayor, the
President of the City of London Festival), St Paul's
Cathedral (the Dean of which is the Festival's
Vice-President), and the Guildhall (which houses the
administrative offices of the Festival's core-funding
body, the Corporation of London)."

London Toy and Model
Museum
The London Toy and
Model Museum was originally founded by a private collector and opened to
the public in 1982.
Housing over 7000 different toys and models, from 1 AD to 1996 AD, it is
probably the finest
collection of its kind in the UK.
During the 1980's
the already impressive range and variety of exhibits grew as private
individuals donated
their own treasured toys to the Museum. These included a rare collection
of
300 Teddy Bears by
the late Peter Bull, a distinguished British character actor.
In 1989 the Museum
was acquired by Fujita Corporation, the highly respected Japanese
development and construction
company.
Intent on creating
a unique Museum, plans emerged to extend the Museum and to theme the
galleries, so that
each one told a different story. The development has employed the use of
interactive displays
which was helped by the procurement of the Mullion Model Museum
collection, renowned
for its range of working models and antique penny slot machines.
In January 1994, a
£4 million project began to take the Museum into the 21st century
using a
mixture of old and
new display techniques from themed mural paintings to using laser disc
technology for audiovisual
displays.
